Yes you read that title right, we really did book a round-trip ticket to Warsaw Poland this year for $99 and a pack of gum. We have previously taken advantage of a similar offer to fly to Italy, so this is not our first rodeo. This is the easiest travel hack for all of you who don't really care about keeping track of the minimum spending and multiple cards. Here is all you have to do to replicate what we did:
1. Apply for Barclay Aviator Credit Card
Barclay Aviator Credit card comes in two forms: personal and business card. Here are some perks of the card:
*60,000 miles after just ONE purchase and paying $99 annual fee
First checked bag is FREE
Preferred boarding
2X for every dollar spent on American Airlines flights, 1X on everything else
Up to $25 back as statement credits on in-flight WiFi purchases
Annual Companion Ticket for just $99 (+taxes and fees) on your account anniversary after you spend $20,000 in one year
*Current offer of 60K miles is subject to change. Make sure to check the latest offers posted by the bank.
2. Put One Purchase on the Card within 90 Days for ANY Amount
Yes, you can literally just go and buy a pack of gum and it will count for you earning 60,000 miles. Yes, I know it sounds too good to be true but we both did it and earned a great round-trip ticket out it, so it works. Any purchase for any amount works.
3. Pay $99 Annual Fee
Most travel credit cards usually waive annual fee the first year of account opening, but then you usually have to spend $1,000-$5,000 in the 3 months to get your sign up bonus. In this case you just pay $99 and get your points without stressing to make sure you meet the minimum spend threshold on time.
4. Book Reward Flight as Soon as Your Points Post!
Here are some examples of how you can spend your 60,000 points
1 round-trip economy to Europe
1 round-trip economy to Central and South America
2 round-trip economy tickets in the U.S.
2 round-trip economy tickets to Caribbean (select destinations)
Travel hacking doesn't get easier then earning $2,000 ticket to Europe by just applying for a card, buying something small like a pack of gum and paying $99 fee.
Side note: I wouldn't personally recommend this card as a "go to" daily credit card unless you're a die hard American Airlines flyer fighting for elite status. It's a great card for someone who is looking for an easy way to earn enough points to fly to Europe, Caribbean, Central and South America.
